A marine mosaic from Antioch-on-the-Orontes, sent to the Dumbarton Oaks Research Center in Washington, DC as part of the agreement with the Syrian government for the 1930s excavations at Antioch, had been stored in crates since then. In 2002 it was acquired by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. This paper explains the subsequent conservation project, carried out in public view, and its aims. |
