résumé de l'AIEMA | :
The Building with Mosaics in Olympos (Lycia) was probably used as a bath during its first phase (3rd to 4th century A.D.). The second phase (between the end of 5th century and the beginning of the 6th century A.D.) witnessed renewal of the walls and the partial extension of the plan including the addition of a second floor.
The mosaic with the Thalassa figure is situated in the exedra of Room D. Studies revealed that among the mosaics of the first stage, those in the Rooms C and D were used twice. However, the mosaic of Room G, which was modified in its floor plan, was actually planned along with the second floor. Most probably, the second construction phase took a long time, and the building was finished with partial alterations of its initial layout. (Excerpt from the author’s abstract.) |
