résumé de l'AIEMA
:
Ruins of an Early Christian basilica were found in Gönen (district of Balıkesir), probably ancient Germe in the Marmara region. In the central nave of the church, a mosaic floor was discovered, over which, due to the excellent state of preservation, a museological shelter (Gönen Açık Hava Müzesi) was erected. The mosaic of Gönen is not only very important for the completeness of its polychrome ornamental system and its technical quality, but also especially because of the mosaic inscriptions composed in seven different panels. This pavement allows an insight into the little known craft tradition of late antique mosaic workshops in the region of Mysia/Hellespontus. (Excerpt from the author’s abstract.)
