A survey of the condition of the Basilica of St. John Studius on the basis of graphic and photographic documentation, from the beginning of the 20th century up until now, aimed to draw attention to the dramatically wretched state in which today we find what was but a few decades ago one of the best-preserved Middle Byzantine opus sectile floors to survive from Byzantine Constantinople.
