The article focuses on the non-figured mosaic fragments from the wall and vault decoration of the narthex in St Eirene which were only partially published by Walter Sykes George in 1912. Moreover, the article provides a survey of the existing fragments, stressing the close stylistic resemblances with the first phase of the mosaic decoration of the nearby Saint Sophia (532-537 A.D.).
