résumé de l'AIEMA
:
The floor mosaic decorating the church in Küçük Tavşan Adası was revealed in 2000. Study of the surviving fragments, and their decoration and location, has demonstrated the existence of different decorative systems. The north and south aisles consist of fields with geometrical patterns and birds, whereas the nave consists of fields with geometric patterns enclosed in a frame inhabited by dolphins, and panels with animals and carpets with geometric interlacing. The figurative and technical characteristics of the mosaic represent a typical expression of Carian mosaic production of the 5th-6th century A.D. (Excerpt from the authors' abstract.)
