Excavations in Metropolis revealed mosaics in various parts of the city dating to the 3rd and 4th centuries A.D. In a reception hall near the theater, high-quality mosaics and wall paintings have been excavated. The figural depictions in the mosaics represent figures from the circle of Dionysos and allegories of the four seasons. In 2003, remains of a Roman bath were revealed in Hanyıkığı, the palaestra of which is also paved with geometric mosaics. |
