A brief presentation of the research project aiming toward a systematic documentation of the mosaic pavements in Perge, which were mainly excavated in 1970s and 1980s. The article discusses the geometric mosaics decorating the southern baths, the macellum, and the portico west of the southern basilica in Perge. It has been possible to identify seven different workshops which belong to two main phases, dating to the 2nd and the 4th-5th centuries A.D. The stylistic feature of the mosaics show similarities with pavements from both the eastern and western provinces of the Roman Empire. |
