Zeugma Poseidon ve Euphrates Evleri

The book provides general information about Zeugma houses, before introducing the Euphrates House. These houses were unearthed during rescue excavations at Zeugma in 1999-2000. Before being submerged by Birecik Dam Lake, the mosaics and mural paintings were taken to the Gaziantep Archaeological Museum, whereas column drums, capitals and similar pieces were brought to Zeugma zone C in order to avoid submersion. The book introduces the Houses of Poseidon and the Euphrates through numerous photographs and drawings, along with the domestic architecture, mural paintings and portable finds. It is possible to see in the photographs the moment when the mosaics were unearthed, and when the statue of Mars and the Coin Treasure from the House of Poseidon were discovered. The rooms of houses are occasionally compared to houses in Antioch. This work serves as a valuable reference for scholars who are interested in the comparative study of Roman houses during the first half of 3rd century, in terms of plan, architecture, mosaic, mural painting, and small finds.
