résumé de l'AIEMA | :
The report of 2005 is a result of the excavations that was carried in the northeastern area of the House of Aion. The excavators explored some geometrical pavement mosaics:
- room 23: a mosaic in grey, white and black consisted of the square central panel with geometric decoration. Surviving elements suggest a pattern of four intersecting circles and checkered ornaments in concave squares, surrounded by a double grey band and black serrated saw-tooth pattern. The rest of the space around the panel was filled with an adjusting frame consisting of the band of white and grey opus reticulatum.
- room 11: a mosaic with a geometric panel asymmetrically situated nearest to the northeastern corner of the room. The panel is filled with intersecting circles in three colors, surrounded by saw-tooth and banded border.
- room 24E: the surviving part of the “central” panel. The frame is monochrome and decorated with a row of white poised linear squares outlined by serrated filets containing small white serrated squares in their centers. The central square had a double grey border surrounding an orthogonal pattern of four contiguous squares, separated by truncated lozenges, adjoining a central lozenge.
- room 26: a central panel consisted of a grey frame enclosing a square with an inscribed four-pointed white star around a violet-red square in the center.
- room 29: fragments of the mosaic floor.
- room 31: fragments of the mosaic floor. |
